Animated movies are the unsung heroes of the entertainment industry. They draw the most emotion out of us, and they do it through very abstract thinking. Often like a childrens book does. We all know of the important and legendary animated movies, but there are some that don’t get the recognition they deserve. These movies take years of patience and planning just to get done and then they end up in the $5 bin at a store. So here are 8 animated movies that you may have over looked that definitely should be checked out.
- EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE
This gem had quite a few big names in it. David Spade, John Goodman, and even the late Eartha Kitt headlined this movie. The movie was hilarious! But it showed enough care and love to make the movie extremely heartwarming.
This movie takes fairytales and flips them on its head. It’s a mystery fairytale (if there is such a thing). It pretty much makes fun of all the stereotypical stories we’ve come to read. This movie will have you crying tears of laughter. Thank god it’s on Netflix.
- THE PAGEMASTER
This movie ironically shows the power of books. Imagination is a powerful thing. It will make you want to get to a library and open your mind back up.
- AN AMERICAN TALE: FIEVEL GOES WEST
(The movie is actually in color.)
It’s a shame that this movie can be found in the 5 dollar bin and we would all be fine with it. Telling the tale of the Wild West, loss, and deception through a mouse was absolutely mesmerizing. The songs in here were pretty great as well.
- THE PRINCE OF EGYPT
I’m not sure if we could consider this underrated, but it surely isn’t talked about like it should be. Telling this story of Moses was not only extremely powerful but it came with an amazing soundtrack.
This movie started off quite weird. Actually the whole movie was strange, but the way that it keeps you engaged throughout the duration of the film is amazing.
- SPACE JAM
Once again, I don’t know if this movie can be considered underrated. This movie is talked about amongst the 80s and 90s kids, but not anyone else. It doesn’t appear on television networks, it’s not on Netflix, it’s no where. Yet this movie was a seriously influential movie that should live on in eternity.
- THE PROUD FAMILY MOVIE
I know this isn’t a movie that went into theaters, still it was much underrated. If you watched the proud family than you know the greatness that this movie encompassed. How can we all forget the epic dance scene when they were on the island?
- ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN
This movie is incredible. It’s has a little bit of a dark story to it. But the heart that’s showed in it is still really good.
Animated movies are amazing forms of entertainment. We always associate them with children, but trust me, adults will enjoy them just as much.
Tis’ All, I’m Out
- Little King
