Now that Drake has finally announced that views from the 6 will be dropping on September 24th, we need to have a serious discussion.
Over the past year, every new school rapper has dropped an album. We’ve got J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Wale, Nicki Minaj, and now Drake. One thing that needs to be figured out, is who has had the best album this year.
So in short this year we’ve had 2014 Forest Hills Drive, The Pinkprint, To Pimp A Butterfly, The Album About Nothing, and Darksky Paradise.
Do y’all not see what the true problem is here. Every last one of the artists has dropped incredible albums. all of them are 8.5’s and above, and we’re having a hard time deciphering which is the best. J Cole and Kendrick have both dropped classics. Big Sean has dropped his best album to date that is both deep and personal. Wale dropped his album about nothing which is truly about everything and man he flourishes. Nicki has gotten away from the pop sensation that she was to get back to her roots of straight rapping, and her album was personal, and showed her true skills.
Drake was the last piece of the puzzle for us to have this conversation, and I must say that I am excited about his upcoming album. Only because we will now see the full picture. Drake has the bar set so high with these other albums that I want to see if he can reach it. Once he drops this album and we’ve had a chance to truly digest this album, we will be able to give our best new school artists albums. I don’t count, If you’re reading this it’s to late because I think it was intended to be a mixtape that you can buy. Views from the 6 is his true album.
People is time to get excited. The final piece to the new school puzzle will arrive in two months. Then we will truly be able to see who has had the best album.
Tis’ All, I’m Out
