10.) THE MARTIAN

the martian2

The Martian opened our eyes to a whole new world, and how to survive on mars. Not only did this movie make me feel like I can survive anything, but that I could also be a hell of a scientist.

9.) SPY

spy3

Melissa McCarthy is an American treasure. This movie was not only gut wrenching funny, but it had the slightest bit of heart in it, and some pretty good action. This movie was mostly just one of the funniest movies of the year.

8.) THE HATEFUL 8

the hateful eight

I know this came out a little late in the year, but it still made the cut. For this movie to take place in one setting the whole time and it keep you on the edge of your seat is beyond great. It was intense, and it inspired us to have a conversation on politics and race. There was plenty of blood, and mystery to it. This was a classic, who are you? Why are you here? And who done it mystery movie, only done in classic Tarantino fashion.

7.) EX-MACHINA

exmachina

This was probably the most different movie of the year. It was so captivating and intriguing that you will seriously be on the edge of your seat throughout the entire movie. The entire cast will absolutely blow you away in this great film.

6.) KINGSMAN: SECRET SERVICE

kingsman

Just like they said in the movie “It’s not that kind of spy movie.” Man they stayed true to that throughout the entire movie. This movie was hilarious, intense, and all around fun. Expect to love this movie from beginning to end.

5.) STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON

straight outta compton

Rap is often chastised for being too violent and too much “This” and to much “That.” This movie will open your eyes to where that pain comes from. Following NWA through the rise of their fame, and the collapse was an incredible experience.

4.) JURASSIC WORLD

jurassic world2

We must pay homage to the old in order to understand the new. This movie sticks true to that. This movie goes to show you that bigger, and better isn’t necessarily the best route.

3.) STAR WARS EPISODE 7: THE FORCE AWAKENS

the force awakens

The wait was tremendous and the payout was huge. So many of us anticipated this movie and when it finally came about it lived up to all of the hype. Introducing us to new characters and making us fall in love with a revamped and updated franchise. This movie pays homage to the old movies as well. This movie was absolutely incredible.

2.) CREED

creed2

To revive a classic series such as Rocky and remix it, that is the greatest thing that can be done. Ryan Coogler was able to capture our hearts again with Michael B. Jordan. During this movie you will find yourself wanting to cry, and fight all in the same scene. Never have I seen so many people shadow boxing in a theater while being on the edge of their seats. Any awards the movie receives will be well deserved.

AND THE BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR IS!!!!…..

INSIDE OUT!!

inside out2

There is no way that this movie won’t receive any awards! It was so incredible creative and magnificent. So much thought was put into this movie that you almost have to watch it twice just to make sure that you understand it. There was a moral to the story that everyone could live by and whether kids knew it or not, they were definitely impacted. Though some parts could definitely go right over a kids head, just know that they will understand when they get older. This movie will last generations.
